Her Honour Lois Mitchell, former Patron and Lieutenant Governor of Alberta, together with her husband His Honour Doug Mitchell, graciously hosted a formal dinner at Government House in celebration of the 150th Anniversary of the Royal Commonwealth Society. The evening marked an important milestone for an organization dedicated to fostering understanding, cooperation, and shared values across the Commonwealth. It was a fitting setting to honour a century and a half of service, dialogue, and global connection.

Promoting friendship, education and engage

Held in the historic and dignified surroundings of Government House, the dinner reflected both the significance of the occasion and the enduring values of the Royal Commonwealth Society.

Guests from across civic, diplomatic, and community circles gathered to recognize the Society’s long-standing role in promoting friendship, education, and engagement among Commonwealth nations. The presence of Her Honour and His Honour underscored the importance of the Society’s mission and its continued relevance in fostering respectful dialogue and international cooperation.

Throughout the evening, conversations highlighted the Royal Commonwealth Society’s commitment to youth engagement, inclusion, and stewardship, as well as its efforts to strengthen connections between people and institutions across the Commonwealth.
